Position Summary
The individual in this role is accountable for overseeing Loss Prevention initiatives focused on identifying, apprehending, and processing individuals involved in theft. This position exemplifies the qualities of an employee owner who makes prudent business decisions aimed at minimizing losses and safeguarding the company's profits. The role also involves assisting store management in ensuring a secure environment for customers, vendors, and staff. A professional demeanor is essential for effectively de-escalating situations that may arise within the retail setting. Collaboration with internal Loss Prevention personnel on various investigations is also a key responsibility.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Exhibits professionalism and sound judgment in a dynamic retail atmosphere.
  • Identifies, apprehends, and processes shoplifters in alignment with company protocols and local regulations.
  • Aids in the safe resolution of concerning incidents within the store through verbal de-escalation techniques and a professional presence.
  • Compiles and submits reports related to investigations and Loss Prevention (LP) issues.
  • Conducts research and maintains records of general liability incidents via C.C.T.V.
  • Engages in internal company investigations.
  • Provides testimony at legal and court proceedings on behalf of the organization.
  • Collaborates with local, state, and governmental agencies regarding company matters.
  • Participates in the upkeep of loss prevention and safety programs.
  • Conducts audits related to loss prevention.
  • Identifies, investigates, and reports hazardous workplace incidents and concerns.
  • Supports the store by promoting awareness of loss prevention and safety.
  • Delivers LP training to store personnel.
  • Maintains the loss prevention office and equipment to established standards.
  • Identifies, troubleshoots, and reports issues with C.C.T.V. equipment.

Requirements
Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Recognizing the necessary criteria to determine instances of theft.
  • Demonstrating sound judgment when addressing challenging situations or individuals.
  • Exhibiting excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a professional setting.
  • Documenting work and customer service activities effectively.
  • Applying strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Prioritizing and executing tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Showing initiative and self-direction.
  • Functioning effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Ability to:

  • Consistently deliver friendly and engaging customer service to both internal and external clients.
  • Perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Work 10-12 hour shifts in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Develop proficiency with C.C.T.V. equipment, locks, and door hardware.
  • Remain seated for extended periods.
  • Execute all tasks efficiently and accurately while maintaining confidentiality, honesty, and integrity.
  • Obtain State or Local certifications as necessary.
  • Wear provided personal protective equipment such as gloves and protective vests.
  • Travel daily within a designated geographic area to assigned locations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned or required.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Equipment Operated:

  • Office machines (computer terminal, copier/scanner, 10-key, fax machine, telephone, etc.).
  • C.C.T.V., DVR, and digital camera equipment.
