Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Clinical Supervisor

As a key member of the Behavioral Health team, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medical assessments for clients enrolled in our programs. Your role includes the management of medication and the delivery of educational support to various agencies and disciplines, ensuring a collaborative approach to client care.
Your responsibilities will encompass:
- Conducting thorough psychiatric assessments for designated clients.
- Reviewing and enhancing current administrative processes and clinical protocols to identify areas for improvement while ensuring compliance with nursing standards.
- Administering medication management and supportive counseling in line with program guidelines.
- Assessing the need for additional medical evaluations and making appropriate referrals.
- Delivering a full spectrum of advanced nursing services tailored to specific client populations, while continuously evaluating their responses to treatment.
- Collaborating with mental health professionals and community organizations to optimize client care.
- Engaging in interdisciplinary team meetings and case discussions to foster a holistic approach to behavioral health.
- Maintaining accurate client records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Evaluating clients for potential psychiatric hospitalization when necessary.
- Providing clinical oversight and mentorship to Behavioral Health program staff, including direct observation of patient care.
- Working with program management to uphold the highest standards of behavioral health services.
- Encouraging client and family involvement in the treatment process.
- Participating in community outreach and educational initiatives as needed.
- Assisting in crisis prevention and resolution strategies.
- Engaging in special projects and fulfilling additional responsibilities as assigned.
Licenses and Certifications:
Must possess a valid Nurse Practitioner license and registration in New York State. Board Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is required within one year of employment. A DEA license is also necessary. A valid driver's license may be required based on operational needs.
Education:A Master's Degree in Nursing or an equivalent graduate degree from an accredited nurse practitioner program recognized by the New York State Education Department is mandatory. A specialized Master's Degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing is preferred.
Work Experience:A minimum of three years of clinical experience in a behavioral health setting is essential. For those working in Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHC), at least one year of experience in substance use treatment, including medication-assisted treatment, is required. Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with proficiency in electronic clinical record systems, are essential. Bilingual candidates in English and Spanish are preferred.
