Overview

The role involves delivering comprehensive psychiatric assessments and medical evaluations for clients enrolled in Behavioral Health initiatives. The position includes ongoing medication management and clinical assessments, along with providing expert consultation and educational support to various agencies and disciplines, including other services within the organization. This position plays a crucial role in the effective management of the Behavioral Health program.

Acts as a vital resource in offering clinical and operational support to designated teams and staff, aimed at enhancing team performance and outcomes.

Delivers advanced nursing care to clients, adhering to current State and Federal regulations governing nurse practitioner practice and national care standards, alongside specific program requirements.

Works under general supervision.

Compensation:

$122, $164,000.00 Annual

  • Conducts psychiatric evaluations for designated clients.
  • Reviews existing administrative processes and clinical protocols; identifies areas for enhancement concerning quality and cost while ensuring compliance with nursing standards of care.
  • Provides ongoing medication management, assessments, and supportive counseling in line with program specifications.
  • Assesses the necessity for physical evaluations and/or medical services and makes referrals as needed.
  • Implements the full scope of advanced nursing practice for targeted client demographics. Evaluates client responses to therapeutic interventions and adjusts the inter-professional care plan as required to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborates with other mental health professionals and community organizations, including various departments/programs within the organization, regarding individual client cases.
  • Engages in interdisciplinary team meetings and case discussions for the Behavioral Health program.
  • Maintains client documentation in accordance with organizational, state, city, and federal regulations.
  • Evaluates clients for potential psychiatric hospitalization when necessary.
  • Provides clinical oversight and guidance to Behavioral Health program personnel, including direct observation of patient care and participation in care as needed. Collaborates with staff to develop and implement in-service training programs.
  • Works alongside program management to ensure the delivery of high-quality behavioral health services to clients. Participates in the development and revision of clinical and administrative policies and procedures, as well as the creation of policy manuals.
  • Encourages client and family involvement in the services included in their treatment plans.
  • Participates in community outreach and educational initiatives as requested.
  • Assists program management and relevant staff in identifying and resolving client crises.
  • Engages in special projects and performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Licenses and Certifications:

Current license and registration to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State required. Board Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner within one year of assuming the role is required. DEA license required. A valid driver's license may be necessary, based on operational needs.

Education:

A Master's Degree in Nursing or another graduate degree from a nurse practitioner educational program recognized by the New York State Education Department as qualifying for NP licensure is required. A Master's Degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing or any specialized PMHNP degree is also required.



Work Experience:

A minimum of three years of clinical experience in a behavioral health setting is required. For Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHC): A minimum of one year of experience in substance use treatment, including medications for addiction treatment, is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in electronic clinical record-keeping systems, is required. Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
