Position Overview:
As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medical assessments to clients within our Behavioral Health programs. Your role will involve ongoing medication management and providing educational consultations to various agencies and disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations for clients.
- Assess and enhance current administrative processes and clinical protocols to improve quality and cost-effectiveness while adhering to compliance standards.
- Manage medication, provide continuous assessments, and offer supportive counseling in line with program requirements.
- Evaluate the necessity for physical examinations and medical services, making referrals as needed.
- Deliver a full spectrum of advanced nursing care tailored to specific client populations, adjusting care plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Collaborate with other mental health professionals and community organizations to coordinate care for individual clients.
- Engage in interdisciplinary team meetings and case discussions to ensure comprehensive care delivery.
- Maintain accurate client records in compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Assess clients for potential psychiatric hospitalization when required.
- Provide clinical supervision and guidance to Behavioral Health program staff, including direct observation of patient care.
- Participate in the development and implementation of training programs for staff.
- Work with program management to ensure the highest quality of behavioral health services.
Policy Development:
Contribute to the formulation and revision of clinical and administrative policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with best practices.
Client Engagement:
Encourage active participation from clients and their families in the treatment planning process.
Additional Responsibilities:
Engage in community programs and educational initiatives as needed, assist in crisis prevention and resolution, and participate in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Current Nurse Practitioner license and registration in New York State.
- Board Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is required within one year of employment.
- DEA license is mandatory.
- Master's Degree in Nursing or a related field from an accredited program.
- A minimum of three years of clinical experience in a behavioral health setting is essential.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication, along with strong computer skills for clinical documentation.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
