Construction Testing Technician

The Building & Construction division offers assurance, testing, inspection, and certification services, along with building science solutions, to ensure Total Quality Assurance in the constructed environment. Our team provides the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry with a comprehensive range of capabilities both in laboratory settings and on-site.

Testing Solutions for Building Products

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee entry-level testing projects under direct supervision until authorized to conduct testing independently.
  • Manage all assigned tasks through our project management system (proposals, job progress, notifications, invoicing, documentation of test data, reporting, and job closure).
  • Review and comprehend contract specifications, securing authorization for and documenting any deviations.
  • Coordinate testing schedules with equipment availability and other departmental testing.
  • Monitor and prepare test specimens.
  • Set up and conduct standard tests on building materials in accordance with established specifications and procedures.
  • Verify calibration status of testing equipment prior to conducting tests.
  • Analyze test outcomes and produce accurate and concise reports summarizing procedures and results.
  • Learn and understand testing standards and procedures (e.g., AAMA, ASTM, NFPA, etc.).
  • Maintain tools and equipment; manage inventory of supplies; ensure cleanliness of the work area.
  • Engage in computer modeling of building mock-ups and test chambers, if designated as a CAD operator.
Qualifications for Success:
  • High School Diploma or GED; an Associate's Degree in a technical field is preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Technical proficiency to understand and communicate testing procedures, specifications, and results, along with a mechanical aptitude.
  • Familiarity with (or the ability to learn) Quality Assurance policies and procedures related to the management, storage, and handling of test specimens.
  • General knowledge of construction and carpentry, with experience using power tools.
  • Physical capability to routinely lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to sit, stand, crouch, bend, climb stairs and ladders, crawl, push, pull, etc., as required to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
  • Excellent customer service abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient computer skills in Word and Excel; AutoCAD experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel as business needs arise.
  • Valid driver's license and a reliable driving record are required.
