Senior Patient Care Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Assistant to join our team at NYU Langone Medical Center. As a key member of our Faculty Group Practice, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.
Responsibilities
Assist with administrative and patient care responsibilities to support efficient practice workflows
Validate patient medical records and update information as needed
Take vital signs and record in Electronic Medical Record
Assist with lab specimen collection and support quality initiatives
Escort patients and specimens throughout the facility
Maintain patient flow to and from exam/treatment rooms
Ensure exam rooms and treatment areas are cleaned per infection control standards
Prepare patient encounters with relevant information
Work with clinical team to ensure logbooks and equipment are followed per FGP standards
Handle patient calls and document outcomes
Assist with in-basket message management and patient medical advice requests
Utilize EPIC functionality to review and update patient records
Stock exam/treatment rooms and supply closets with medical supplies and equipment
Support Clinical Quality Management and maintain clinical supplies and equipment
Complete annual competencies and training
Administrative Responsibilities
Greet patients and perform intake functions, including registration and co-payment collection
Monitor Department Appointment Report for checkmate 'kick-outs' and appointment notes
Gather patient demographic data and materials, and advise on patient and financial documents
Scan documents into Epic and follow scanning guidelines
Answer phone calls and requests in a professional and patient-friendly manner
Refer patients to senior staff or billing representative as needed
Release medical records in accordance with HIPAA and FGP ROI guidelines
Monitor and complete patient front-end work queues and administrative inbasket messages
Remain current on latest best practices, policies, and protocols
Demonstrate knowledge of organization's service standards and incorporate into performance duties
Provide materials and information to patients and staff as needed
Maintain cooperative and professional relationships with physicians, nurses, and staff
Serve as NYU Langone Health Faculty Group Practice Brand Ambassador
Requirements
High school graduate or equivalent required
Working knowledge of English and computer skills
Minimum of one year of experience as a Patient Care Assistant or Medical Assistant within the last two years
Ability to complete multiple tasks efficiently and thrive in a team work environment
Preferred Licenses
Medical Assistant Certificate
Medical Assistant certification preferred
Proficiency in venipuncture and phlebotomy preferred
