Job Title: Postdoctoral Scholar

We are seeking highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Scholars to join our research team at the Pennsylvania State University. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research projects in the field of biomolecular condensates, particularly focusing on mitochondria.

Job Summary:

The Laboratory of Marina Feric in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) and Center for Eukaryotic Gene Regulation (CEGR) at Penn State University is offering several positions for Postdoctoral Fellows to investigate the structure and function of biomolecular condensates. The Feric lab takes an interdisciplinary approach to uncover the driving forces underlying the organization of the cell, in the context of human health and age-related diseases, through the lens of biomolecular phase transitions.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research on biomolecular condensates, particularly focusing on mitochondria
  • Develop and implement novel experimental approaches to study biomolecular condensates
  • Collaborate with the research team to design and execute experiments
  • Analyze and interpret data to draw conclusions and make recommendations
  • Present research findings at conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals
Requirements:
  • PhD in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biophysics, Chemical and Biological Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Prior experience with at least one area: protein and nucleic acid purification, mammalian cell culture, mitochondrial biology, advanced genetic engineering, next-generation sequencing & analysis, advanced light microscopy & image analysis, or biophysical modeling
