We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at the University of New Mexico. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Collect and record patient data, including medical history and vital signs
- Prepare patients for exams and procedures, including setting up sterile fields and chaperoning
- Administer medications, including injections and oral medications
- Perform routine non-invasive treatment procedures, such as EKGs and ear irrigations
- Enter data into computer systems and verify accuracy
- Provide basic patient care, including taking vital signs and recording chief complaints
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including patient care rooms and equipment
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Program graduate or 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant
- Completion of UNMH MA Safe Med Admin Course within 90 days
- CPR for Healthcare/BLS certification
- Bilingual English and Spanish
- 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to rotate shifts. The successful candidate will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and to follow patient safety protocols.
