Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Certified Coding Specialist to join our team at the University Medical Center of El Paso. As a key member of our coding team, you will be responsible for accurately coding and abstracting outpatient medical records in accordance with ICD-10-CM and CPT coding guidelines. Your expertise will ensure timely and accurate reimbursement and contribute to the population of statistical databases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and code medical records to ensure accuracy and compliance with coding guidelines
- Query physicians for clarification on documentation as needed
- Exercise independent judgment within pre-determined guidelines to perform duties
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in coding and abstraction
Requirements:
- One year of experience in outpatient coding, with consideration given to internship experience
- Billing/Coding certification from an accredited organization
- High school diploma or equivalent, with an Associate of Applied Sciences in Medical Billing and Coding degree preferred
