Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Welding Project Leader 2 to join our team at Huntington Ingalls Industries. As a key member of our welding operations team, you will be responsible for expediting the implementation of productivity and quality improvements in welding operations. This role requires strong technical and hands-on skills, as well as excellent communication and coordination abilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate assigned projects from initiation through implementation, which may require initiation and coordination of equipment purchases/testing/modification, training program development, design changes, etc.
  • Provide technical and hands-on assistance to Trades personnel in the implementation of automatic systems and new materials introductions.
  • Assist in job planning, equipment set-up and the troubleshooting of problems incurred during implementation.
  • May coordinate and expedite the movement of needed equipment and materials, and provision of required services.
  • May function as a liaison between the Trades and other Company functions, such as Welding Engineering, Design, etc., to coordinate the resolution of technical problems.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant exempt experience; Master's Degree and 1 year of relevant professional experience.
  • One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:
    • NNS Apprentice School graduate
    • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
    • Associate's Degree or other formal 2-year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
    • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
    • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
    • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
  • Preferred to be knowledgeable in Shipyard equipment and processes as well as knowledgeable of filler metal specifications and requirements.
