This role is pivotal in new product development and introduction, engaging the successful candidate in all phases of product lifecycles. Furthermore, the candidate will actively participate in enhancing manufacturing capabilities and refining manufacturing and testing practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist Operations in achieving daily performance goals, collaborating to surpass productivity, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Identify improvement opportunities by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Contribute to product development, Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and Design for Manufacturing.
  • Design, implement, and enhance manufacturing and testing processes.
  • Create tooling, fixtures, and automation solutions to support assembly and testing.
  • Evaluate capital equipment investments and prepare cost justifications. Design and draft concept drawings for new equipment or modifications to existing equipment. Write specifications for collaboration with external vendors and oversee the implementation of capital equipment projects.
  • Ensure product and process quality by developing testing methods, assessing finished products and process capabilities, and establishing standards to validate manufacturing process requirements. Utilize statistical methods to determine root causes of failures, which may lead to design, tolerance, or processing method changes.
  • Prepare documentation for new and existing processes and engineering procedures. Develop manufacturing work instructions, procedures, and standard operating procedures using engineering methodologies.
  • Optimize floor plans, process maps, and work center layouts.
  • Contribute to the training and skill development of manufacturing personnel.
  • Lead or participate in internal improvement and corrective action teams, identifying root causes and implementing permanent corrective actions.
  • Analyze existing production processes, identify work elements, time them, and create work content charts. Develop Operator Balance Charts for production cells.
Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an engineering capacity.

Preferred Knowledge:

  • Precision assembly and testing, including automation and robotics.
  • Networking and interfacing manufacturing equipment and processes for data collection and control.
  • Tooling and fixture design.
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and engineering drawing standards.
  • Metrology and inspection equipment capabilities and practices.
  • Statistical techniques, including Statistical Process Control (SPC), Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R), Process Qualification, and Validation.
  • Engineering design, modeling, and analysis software.
  • Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Lean manufacturing principles.

Compensation: $73,000 - $95,000 annual base salary based on experience.
