About the Role

Gpac is seeking a highly skilled Automation/Controls Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and configuring new automation systems, upgrading older machinery, and enhancing existing manufacturing lines in various industries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Design switchgear controls and control panels in accordance with customer specifications, internal specifications, and applicable industry standards.
  • Project Management: Ensure projects are designed and built to applicable UL and ANSI standards.
  • Component Selection and Procurement: Select components, create BOM and CAD drawings that meet customer requirements and internal standards for production/manufacturing processes.
  • Cost Reduction and Optimization: Reduce component material and labor cost through new designs and processes, provide technical support to assembly personnel.
  • Vendor Management: Create vendor PO's and follow up on delivery.
  • System Configuration: Provide the selection and setting of protective relays and controllers.
  • Process Improvement: Improve process flow to reduce labor hours, create production schedule and reduce WIP.
  • Programming and Development: Write PLC programs to meet project functional requirements.
  • Operator Interface Development: Write operator interface (HMI) programs for system control and metering.
  • Operating Sequences: Write operating sequences. Assist with creating project submittals and O&M Manuals.
  • Testing and Commissioning: Assist with factory testing and field start-ups as required.
  • Test Procedures and Programs: Create test procedures and programs as required.
Requirements
  • Reside in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area.
  • Hold a BS degree in Engineering (Automation, Electrical or Mechanical).
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills.
  • Skilled at using Microsoft Office and Autocad software.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Willingness to work long hours and learn.
