Job Summary

MARC Media Group is seeking a highly skilled Chief Engineer to manage the installation, maintenance, and repair of studio, transmitting, and ancillary equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring competitive signals in the market while complying with all FCC technical requirements.

The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a minimum of five years of experience in a managerial role. They will be able to interact with management and staff at all levels, multitask, handle pressures, and meet deadlines.

The Chief Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining station operation through preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Establishing routine maintenance procedures and schedules for all broadcast equipment.
  • Handling the installation and maintenance of audio consoles and AOIP audio distribution, PC or server-based audio editors, skimmer and streaming computers, transmitters, antennas, control systems, remote equipment, etc.
  • Working with local management to coordinate remote broadcasts as needed.
  • Responsibilities include compliance with FCC rules and regulations, budgeting, properties maintenance, and oversight.
  • Travel to other markets or towers and stations may be required.
  • 24/7 on call for after-hour emergencies.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven experience in digital marketing, with a minimum of five years in a managerial role.
  • Interact with management and staff at all levels and ability to multi-task, handle pressures, and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of all applicable FCC rules and regulations, including the FCC Online Public File.
  • Experience with satellite distribution and local station audio routing, digital audio delivery, and EAS.
  • Computer literacy in applicable software packages which may include Microsoft Server/OS, Office365, Azure, RCS Zetta automation, Wheatnet, Tieline, and Web interfaced proprietary gear.
  • Ability to troubleshoot broadcast and business computer equipment to the component level.
  • Ability to work independently to troubleshoot/repair high-power AM and FM transmitting facilities.
  • IT skills including LAN and WAN, desktop and laptop deployment, and endpoint management.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, UPS, and standby generators.
  • Knowledge of POTs and VOIP telephone systems.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders is required.

Education and Licensing:

  • Associates or technical degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field or equivalent level of experience.
  • SBE CBRE Certification a plus.
  • Must possess valid state driver's license and provide required proof of personal vehicle insurance.
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS and website content management systems (CMS).
