About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Field Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for managing contract administration and construction engineering and inspection (CEI) operations of highway and/or bridge construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and interpret plans, specifications, and other construction documents for clarity, completeness, and constructability
  • Foster continuous coordination between all stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and project managers
  • Assist in organizing and conducting pre-construction meetings and coordinate with project managers to monitor CEI budgets
  • Monitor and track construction activities and progress, including material on hand and daily work reports
  • Evaluate and make recommendations regarding contractor's requests for payment and administer the change order process
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate construction inspection activities and material testing operations
  • Meet with contractor's supervisors or other project leaders to discuss and coordinate testing, sampling, or inspection of construction materials or construction procedures
  • Provide guidance and direction as needed to on-site CEI project staff and oversee project document control operations
  • Support project managers during the project close-out phase and maintain effective client relationships
Requirements
  • An Engineer in Training, a licensed Professional Engineer, or the ability to be licensed in Texas within 6 months from the employment date
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience related to construction engineering/construction management for transportation projects
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or related Engineering program
  • Thorough knowledge of client/DOT specifications and standards
  • Experience with SiteManager, Primavera, or other scheduling software preferred
  • Proficient in MS Word/Excel/Outlook and project scheduling tools
