Position Overview
Under the supervision of the Superintendent-General Services, you will perform skilled plumbing tasks related to the construction, repair, inspection, servicing, installation, and modification of plumbing systems, including sewage, water, irrigation, and swimming pool systems.

In your role, you will be expected to:
  • Deliver quality work within set deadlines, with or without supervision.
  • Engage professionally with colleagues, clients, and suppliers.
  • Collaborate effectively as a team member on all projects.
  • Work independently while maintaining communication and coordination with other team members.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, utilize provided safety equipment, and report any unsafe conditions immediately.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Execute skilled plumbing tasks in the construction, repair, inspection, servicing, installation, and modification of plumbing systems.

Assess and test backflow devices for various systems; identify issues and determine necessary repairs; install systems as required.

Install, repair, and replace plumbing fixtures such as toilets, sinks, and drinking fountains in park facilities.

Manage sewer waste and vent line systems through installation, repair, and replacement.

Conduct tests on plumbing and water systems, diagnosing issues and determining repair needs.

Maintain accurate records and reports related to maintenance and repairs performed; submit documentation to relevant personnel.

Inspect drinking fountains for proper flow and drainage at park facilities.

Install and repair flushometers, vacuum breakers, faucets, and valves.

Operate specialized equipment to locate underground utilities and conduct inspections and repairs using various tools.

Maintain swimming pool systems, including filters, pumps, and related equipment.

Communicate with departments regarding maintenance and repair requirements.

Perform welding and soldering for plumbing repairs.

Carry out additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

A combination of a completed four-year journey-level apprenticeship technical training program in plumbing and two years of journey-level plumbing experience, including experience in irrigation and swimming pool systems.

LICENSE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • State Journey-Level Plumbing license.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Certification in Backflow Assembly from the Department of Health.
  • Obtain a valid First Aid and CPR Card during the probationary period.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This position is represented by the International Union of Operating Engineers.

ENVIRONMENT:
