Job Summary:

The Park Maintenance Assistant will work under the supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor to perform a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and upkeep of park buildings, grounds, and equipment. This includes performing daily housekeeping tasks, assisting skilled employees with maintenance and repair work, and leading seasonal employees in their daily tasks.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily housekeeping tasks, including cleaning and maintaining park buildings and grounds.
  • Assist skilled employees with maintenance and repair work, including mechanical and utility systems.
  • Lead seasonal employees in their daily tasks and provide guidance and support as needed.
  • Work with the public and coworkers in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Read and understand written and verbal instructions.
  • Purchase and wear a prescribed uniform and adhere to DPR grooming standards.
Requirements:
  • Valid California Driver's License (CDL).
  • Background Investigation clearance prior to hire.
  • Medical Clearance prior to hire.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Working Conditions:

Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Work environment involves some exposure to hazard or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions. Outdoor work is common.

Special Requirements:
  • The position requires a valid California Drivers License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your application. Ensure you provide your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.
  • The position requires a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
  • The position requires Medical Clearance prior to being hired.
  • Must wear the prescribed uniform and uniform code; also adhere to DPR grooming standards.

This is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR.
