Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Dietary Aide to join our team at The Alden Network. As a Dietary Aide, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to our residents by assisting with food preparation, serving meals, and maintaining a clean and safe dining environment.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with food preparation and serving meals to residents
  • Maintain a clean and safe dining environment, including washing dishes and utensils, and disposing of food and waste
  • Work with the supervisor to implement procedures and recommended changes as required
  • Recommend equipment and supply needs to the supervisor
  • Review menu extensions prior to preparation of foods
  • Assist with arranging diet cards, serving meals, and loading trays on cart
  • Deliver food carts to designated areas
  • Remove food trays/carts from dining rooms and take to dish washing area
  • Prepare and deliver snacks as instructed
  • Prepare and serve foods that are palatable and appetizing in appearance
  • Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures
  • Prepare food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menu extensions
  • Report all accidents/incidents to the supervisor
  • Report all hazardous conditions/equipment to the supervisor immediately
Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent
  • One year dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or other related medical facility preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English in an understandable manner
  • Ability to deal tactfully with residents, family members, visitors, personnel, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
  • Ability to work harmoniously with other personnel
  • Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm
  • Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday
  • Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
  • Good general health and emotional stability
Working Conditions

The Dietary Aide will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The position requires the ability to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc., in excess of 50 pounds throughout the workday. The Dietary Aide may be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to the HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
