Job Title: Student Assistance Counselor

Rumson-Fair Haven Regional School District is seeking a qualified Student Assistance Counselor to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Student Assistance Counselor will provide support and guidance to students, parents, and staff to promote a safe and healthy learning environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in counseling, education, and community resources.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual and group counseling to students, focusing on substance abuse, mental health, and wellness.
  • Develop and implement prevention and intervention programs to promote student success.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and community agencies to provide support services to students.
  • Conduct assessments and develop plans to address student needs.
  • Provide training and support to staff on student assistance and counseling.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • New Jersey Standard Student Assistance Coordinator (SAC) Certification endorsement required.
  • Excellent communication, counseling skills, and ability to establish and maintain positive rapport with students.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education, students, and substance use.
  • Knowledge of community resources available for prevention, intervention, and treatment of substance abuse and mental health issues.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with at-risk students and families.
  • Knowledge of behavioral modifications and intervention strategies.
  • Ability to use computer network systems and software applications, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite for Educators.
