MISSION: To construct intricate gating systems in a diverse and non-repetitive manner to create mold forms for investment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Preparation
Objective: To evaluate patterns and determine assembly techniques.
Typical Activities:
- Conducts pre-inspection of patterns and gating components before assembly begins.
- Interprets and adheres to technique card assembly guidelines, which outline various unique assembly steps of a complex nature; strategizes methods for completing assignments and selects from alternative assembly techniques.
Objective: To accurately construct complex gating systems.
Typical Activities:
- Assembles intricate gating systems using torch, hot pencils, and a variety of hand tools.
- Secures gates in position using torch or hot pencil.
- Refines and measures the area surrounding each assembly contact with hot pencil, torch, or paint seal.
- Alters gates by reshaping, splicing, reducing, or augmenting to achieve proper fit.
- Handcrafts basic gating from raw materials.
- May develop code sheets for engineering-requested modifications or deviations from standard assemblies.
- Inspects assemblies during and after the assembly process to identify defects and ensure quality.
Objective: To uphold and demonstrate safe work practices.
Typical Activities:
- Complies with plant and departmental safety regulations.
- Operates all equipment and tools safely.
- Identifies and reports safety concerns.
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to apply pattern gating assembly techniques, methods, materials, fixturing, and construction.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with others.
- Ability to work within a team environment and foster team development.
- Ability to read and follow complex written instructions.
- Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing between thirty to fifty pounds.
- Ability to work in environments that may involve exposure to noise, fumes, crowding, awkward physical positions, abrasions, cuts, and chemicals.
