Job Summary

We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at The GEO Group. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule appointments, welcome, and prepare patients for physician examinations.
  • Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure vital signs, weight, and height.
  • Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or test results in medical records while maintaining privacy and confidentiality.
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by the physician.
  • Collect and prepare blood, tissues, or other laboratory specimens for testing.
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physician instructions to patients.
  • Assist physicians; hand instruments/materials and perform tasks such as giving injections or removing sutures.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
  • Provide emotional and physical comfort and safety to patients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
  • Current Certified Medical Assistant certification. Must maintain a current copy of the permit on file in the facility at all times.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance.
  • Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
  • Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
  • Must be able to use computer and the software application packages used by the facility.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently: Lift, carry up, push, or pull up to 40 lbs.; walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, and reach above shoulder level.
  • Occasionally: Lift, carry up, push, or pull up to 60 lbs.; climb, and work with machinery.
