Emergency Department Technician

The Emergency Department Technician plays a vital role in providing emergency care under the supervision of nursing staff. This position requires knowledge of basic patient care standards and medical technology.
Essential Functions- Assists with patient care duties, including collecting vital signs, weight, pulse oximetry readings, and pain scale ratings.
- Recognizes and reports abnormal data or findings promptly, implementing physician, provider, and nursing orders responsibly.
- Provides direct technical care, including helping with mobility, toileting, feeding, and other personal care needs.
- Performs phlebotomy to obtain venous blood samples and delivers specimens for laboratory review.
- Assists with patient transportation and education, consoles patients and family members, and responds to their concerns.
- Coordinates clinical activities and communicates effectively with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
- Knowledge and expertise of nursing and patient care standards and procedures.
- Relational skills to interact effectively with patients and staff.
- Ability to follow established safety, infection control, environmental, and isolation practices and procedures.
- Strong communication and computer skills, including data entry, electronic medical documentation, and email.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- 1 Year of Experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
