Job Title: Store Clerk

At The Salvation Army USA Southern Territory, we are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Store Clerk to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Store Clerk will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, operating a cash register, and maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the store displays. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist customers with purchasing items, operating a cash register, and handling customer transactions.
  • Maintain the neatness and security of the cash register area, ensuring that forms, bags, and other supplies are adequately stocked.
  • Place and arrange items in the store as directed, checking all displays to ensure items are maintained and displayed in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Clean all display racks and shelves, sweep and mop floors, clean windows and mirrors, and ensure the store is maintained in a clean and inviting manner.
  • Inspect donated items to ensure they can be used according to established policies and procedures.
  • Assist in pricing and tagging items in the store in accordance with established procedures.
  • Sort donated items and rotate merchandise.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. and experience working in a retail store preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to operate a cash register, perform routine mathematical computations, and count change.
  • Ability to perform continuous walking, standing, and some climbing.
Working Conditions:

Duties are usually performed standing. Standing may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of sitting. Moderate physical effort required associated with sitting, walking, standing, lifting, bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, and carrying light to heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.).
