About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer Team Lead to join our team at Raytheon. As a key member of our Mechanical Engineering organization, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers in the design, development, and integration of mechanical systems for our air defense systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Provide direct line management and leadership for 15-25 highly skilled mechanical engineers.
  • Technical Guidance: Oversee technical performance of individual contributors and engineering leads, providing technical guidance and project support throughout the product life cycle.
  • Employee Development: Responsible for employee technical development, leadership development, mentoring, motivating, training, and recognition.
  • Performance Management: Conduct performance reviews and support recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Process Improvement: Lead and support Mechanical Engineering organization initiatives to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Project Execution: Oversee mid to large-sized cross-functional engineering teams as a technical execution lead through all phases of development from proposal generation, program start-up, requirements allocation, preliminary design, detailed development, and first-article production.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical degree.
  • Experience: 8 years of experience in a Mechanical Engineering role with a minimum of 4 years designing and developing mechanical equipment, preferably for use in military environments.
  • Skills: Experience in mechanical design, development, material selection, and manufacturing processes for electronic assemblies and equipment packaging. Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance analysis.
  • Clearance: Active and transferable U.S. government-issued secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: Experience leading engineering teams with cost and schedule responsibility. Mechanical design experience, including concept definition through detailed design and transition to production and production support.
  • Skills: Ability to work collaboratively in an Integrated Product Team environment, interfacing with multiple engineering disciplines, operations, supply chain, quality, IPT leadership, program managers, and customers, including Agile product development methods.
