Ochsner Health is seeking a highly skilled Acute General Surgery Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional patient care and work collaboratively with our medical staff to deliver high-quality patient outcomes.
Responsibilities- Provide primary and urgent medical management for critically ill patients
- Collaborate with residents, fellows, attendings, and staff to deliver comprehensive patient care
- Develop and implement medical and nursing care plans
- Teach and mentor residents and medical students
- Participate in staff development and education
- Master's or Doctorate degree as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
- OR Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant medicine or Health Sciences, or graduate of an approved Physician Assistant Training Program
- 3 years' related working experience preferred
- Certifications: Nurse Practitioner - Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Acute Care Clinical Nurse Specialist by either AACN or ANCC; Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association; Eligible for Prescriptive Authority in the state of practice as outlined by the State Board of Nursing
- Physician Assistant - Current license as a Physician Assistant in the state of practice; National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certified; Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification from the American Heart Association; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association; Eligible for Prescriptive Authority in the state of practice as outlined by the State Board of Medical Examiners
The incumbent works in a patient care area; works in an area where patients enter; works directly with patients; and/or works with specimens that could contain communicable diseases. There may be an occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.
