Job Summary

The Production Supervisor at Fruehauf oversees the functions, production, and employees within their designated department. This role is responsible for ensuring the completion of trailers and each step involved in the completion process.

This position requires the ability to lead, communicate effectively, give daily production goals, and maintain the flow of materials and equipment.

The Production Supervisor will work closely with the Production Manager and other supervisors to ensure daily functions are completed efficiently.

Awareness of safety procedures and inventory control of the supervised area is crucial for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and Motivate Team Members: Encourage employees to reach daily goals set by the company.
  • Ensure Quality Standards: Ensure that quality standards are met in all aspects of production.
  • Proactive Issue Resolution: Be proactive in resolving issues before they arise, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
  • Effective Communication: Communicate and disseminate directions clearly and effectively to all team members.
  • Work Order Management: Receive, separate, and organize Work Orders efficiently.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure employees wear the proper safety equipment and adhere to safety procedures.
  • Departmental Meetings: Hold meetings with departmental employees to update and encourage them.
  • Time and Attendance Management: Track employee time and attendance, addressing attendance and performance issues with individual employees as needed.
  • Resource Allocation: Ensure employees have the necessary materials, tools, and supplies to complete their jobs effectively.
  • Interdepartmental Communication: Communicate with the Production Manager and Plant Manager as needed.
Requirements
  • Physical Demands: Requires minimum of 8 hours of standing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling with a full range of body mechanics/movements.
  • Work Environment: The majority of time is spent on the shop floor walking between work areas.
  • Physical Abilities: Must be able to climb and descend ladders, stairs, platforms, and climb in, under, and out of trailers.
  • Environmental Factors: Exposed to high noise levels and high heat during peak summer months.
  • Work Atmosphere: Fast-paced atmosphere with multiple priorities and constant changes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Microsoft Programs: Proficient in Microsoft Programs, including Excel and Word.
  • Air and Electric Tools: Familiarity with air and electric tools.
  • Crane Operation: Ability to operate cranes safely and efficiently.
  • Welding Understanding: Understanding of welding principles and practices.
  • Print Reading: Ability to read and understand prints.
  • Measurement and Tool Use: Familiarity with tape measure and other tools.
Experience and Education
  • High School Diploma: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Supervisory Experience: Supervisory experience in a manufacturing or assembly line environment.
  • Manufacturing and Assembly Line Experience: Experience in manufacturing and assembly line production.
  • Computer Knowledge: Basic computer knowledge and skills.
