Job Title:

Registered Nurse Leader

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse Leader to join our team at SNF Rehab & Healthcare. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the nursing functions in an effective manner.

Responsibilities:

• Verify daily staffing and redistribution, as necessary;

• Collaborate with all charge nurses daily, to exchange information regarding resident care, resident condition and all matters affecting resident well-being;

• Make rounds, morning and night, as time allows, to assess residents condition, giving special attention to critically ill residents;

• Ensure that the individual nursing care plan is followed for each resident;

• Perform medication passes and/or direct resident care as needed;

• Participate in resident care committee meetings;

• Reinforce the training and orientation of nursing personnel and provide positive reinforcement;

• Answer any/all emergencies throughout the shift;

• Assist in assuring a safe and sanitary environment for residents, employees, and visitors;

• Ensure that the building is secure during the evening and night hours;

• Review incident and investigative reports for accuracy and completeness;

• Monitor meal service on the units and in the dining areas;

• Assist in development and implementation of nursing facility Quality Improvement Program;

• Ensure that residents and families receive the highest quality of service;

• Perform other duties as requested;

Requirements:

• Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing;

• Must have current registration with the professional board of nurse examiners of the State;

• Must have experience in the nursing field;

• Must have supervisory experience in long term care;

Skills:

• Must have thorough knowledge of nursing theory, techniques and practices;

• Must have thorough knowledge of the specialized procedures applied and equipment used in the area to which assigned;

• Must have knowledge of dietetic, sanitation, and personal hygiene;

• Must have knowledge of medications, their proper dosage and expected results;

• Must have skill in handling and manipulating instruments and equipment;

• Must be able to coordinate and supervise the nursing functions in an effective manner;

• Must be able to maintain an empathetic attitude toward residents and to gain their confidence;

• Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions of a technical nature;

• Must be able to recognize and identify symptoms and to make decisions quickly in emergencies;

• Must be able to train subordinates in work procedures and to organize and direct training carried out by members of the staff;

• Must possess the ability to positively interact with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public;

• Must provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test;
