Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Development to join our team at the MSU Alumni Foundation. The successful candidate will be responsible for securing financial gifts from individuals, private foundations, and other philanthropic entities to benefit Montana State University.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain relationships with donors, alumni, and other stakeholders to secure financial support for MSU.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve fundraising goals, including identifying and cultivating new prospects, and soliciting gifts from existing donors.
  • Collaborate with academic and administrative leaders to understand their development needs and priorities.
  • Manage a portfolio of donors and prospects, and provide regular reports on progress and results.
  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies and tactics to achieve goals, including events, campaigns, and other initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with volunteers, peers, and other stakeholders to leverage gift success.
  • Stay up-to-date on best practices in fundraising, development, and philanthropy, and apply this knowledge to improve fundraising results.
Requirements
  • Proven track record of success in major gifts fundraising, preferably in a university setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with donors, alumni, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of personal and professional integrity.
  • Valid Montana driver's license or eligibility.
