Bozeman Community Food Co-op People and Culture Director

The Bozeman Community Food Co-op seeks a seasoned People and Culture Director to spearhead the development and implementation of comprehensive personnel policies and practices. This strategic role will collaborate closely with the organization's leadership team to foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning
As a strategic partner to the Co-op Director leadership team, the People and Culture Director will provide guidance on employee-related issues and organizational development, ensuring alignment with the organization's overall business goals and objectives.
Develop and implement the organization's People and Culture strategies, ensuring seamless integration with the Co-op's mission and vision.
Collaborate with department managers to understand hiring needs and ensure timely and effective recruitment, promoting a culture of excellence and inclusion.
Compliance with Employment and Labor Law
The People and Culture Director will ensure the organization's compliance with federal, state, and local employment and labor laws, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of regulations and best practices.
Review and update policies and practices to maintain compliance, ensuring the organization's commitment to a fair and equitable work environment.
Investigate all harassment and discrimination claims, recommending appropriate action and ensuring prompt resolution.
Talent Acquisition
The People and Culture Director will lead the full-cycle recruitment process, developing and maintaining a strong employer brand to attract high-quality candidates.
Collaborate with the recruitment team to develop and implement effective recruitment strategies, ensuring timely and effective hiring processes.
Develop and maintain a strong employer brand, promoting the Co-op's mission and values to attract top talent.
Employee Relations & Engagement
The People and Culture Director will oversee the leave administration process, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Manage conflict resolution and disciplinary actions, ensuring fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
Administer all employee-related aspects of ADA compliance and accommodations, ensuring equal access to opportunities.
Performance Management
The People and Culture Director will develop and implement performance management systems, ensuring clear expectations and goals for all employees.
Provide guidance and coaching to department and assistant managers on all personnel processes, ensuring seamless integration with organizational goals.
Oversee the performance evaluation process, ensuring fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
Compensation Program
The People and Culture Director will oversee payroll and benefits administration, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Participate in wage determinations and salary benchmarking, ensuring competitive compensation practices.
Manage employee benefits programs, ensuring alignment with organizational needs and compliance with legal requirements.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Management experience in a human resources area, preferably in a food service or retail setting.
Experience or specific education in a human resources field, with a strong understanding of employment and labor laws.
HR Certification (SHRM/HRCI or other), with a strong commitment to professional development.
Familiarity with applicable federal and state employment and labor laws, with a strong understanding of best practices.
Experience with HRMS (Human Resource Management Systems) and other HR-related software.
Exceptional interpersonal and written/oral communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
Fluency in MS Office, particularly in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, with occasional evening and weekend work.
Ability to work at a computer for extended periods, with minimal to light physical effort required.
Salary Range
The estimated salary range for this role is $70,000 to $80,000 per year, based on the national average for a People and Culture Director in a similar industry and location.
