Job Summary

The Assistant Resident Engineer will serve as a field point of contact for the client and project stakeholders. This role will support the Resident Engineer in managing and supervising an assigned field office and construction field inspection staff. Responsibilities include reviewing and verifying construction schedules and inspections, assisting in the preparation and negotiations of construction change orders, and preparing weekly/monthly project reports.

  • Assist in the preparation and negotiations of construction change orders.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly project reports.
  • Participate in Project Progress meetings.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BS Civil Engineering or Construction or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • PE License.
  • 10 years progressive experience on multi-disciplinary transportation related construction projects, including Bridge and Street Reconstruction/Water Main and Sanitary/Storm-water Sewer Installations work for NYC/NYS agencies such as NYCDOT, NYSDOT, NYSTA.

Knowledge of Site Manager for NYSDOT is desirable. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, be computer literate, experience with Microsoft office, Microsoft Project and related PC software packages used on design and construction projects. Candidates who reside locally in the metro NY/NJ area are preferred.

Typical starting pay range for this position is $74,000.00 to $107,000.00 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
