Clinical Support Specialist

Job Overview
Under the guidance of management and physician leadership, the Medical Assistant III is responsible for executing and supervising various clinical activities. This role is essential in maintaining patient flow and facilitating the delivery of primary and preventive healthcare services. The Medical Assistant III will perform technical procedures, adhere to lab protocols, and engage in clinically oriented tasks under the direction of healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist physicians/providers in delivering primary healthcare and managing patient care.
- Collaborate with clerical staff to enhance operational efficiency and patient flow.
- Engage with external healthcare facilities and agencies concerning patient care and insurance matters.
- Maintain up-to-date competencies and effectively communicate with leadership and accreditation bodies regarding processes and workflows.
- Perform front office tasks as needed to ensure comprehensive coverage.
- Provide support across various departments or locations as required.
- Exhibit exceptional customer service skills, supporting a model of patient and family-centered care.
- Assume additional responsibilities that constitute at least 20% of dedicated time, which may include:
- Identifying primary care gaps, outreach, and chart preparation.
- Participating in residency clinic roles.
- Conducting high-level disinfection.
- Serving as a designated preceptor for new hires.
- Engaging in special programs or grants related to practice improvement.
- Managing care as a Patient Care Coordinator.
- Acting as a qualified language interpreter.
- Providing advanced support to providers during complex procedures.
- Participating in a flexible float pool assignment across multiple sites.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, including clinical rotation, or equivalent experience is necessary.
- A minimum of one year of relevant experience is required, with twelve months of Medical Assistant work experience or completion of an internship.
- Preferred: Two to three years of Medical Assistant experience.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from recognized organizations is required upon hire.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited body is preferred within 90 days of hire.
Work Environment
This position typically involves full-time hours with a day shift schedule. Flexibility in working hours and the ability to cover variable weekends may be required.
