Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse at Dartmouth Health, you will play a vital role in ensuring the general well-being of residents through the delivery of high-quality services. This position requires a strong understanding of the New Hampshire Nurse Practice Act and Resident Bill of Rights. You will be responsible for managing and supervising resident associates, performing patient care using an integrated approach, and communicating clinical information to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to patient needs. Additionally, you will coordinate and supervise patient care, demonstrate critical thinking skills, and utilize assessment data to identify patient care needs. This is a variable position that requires a high degree of interpersonal relation skills, initiative, judgment, and leadership skills. Responsibilities

• Perform patient care using an integrated approach that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors.
• Formulate an individual plan of care, revise plan as indicated by the patient's response to treatment, and evaluate overall plan for effectiveness.
• Communicate clinical information appropriately to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs.
• Collaborate with all ancillary departments to ensure seamless care delivery.
• Demonstrate critical thinking skills, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
• Utilize assessment data to identify patient care needs, including patient education and discharge planning.
• Recognize and report abnormal assessment data and incorporate findings into the plan of care.
• Accurately and legibly document all patient care activities, including but not limited to, wound assessment, patient care teaching, demonstrated progress toward goals, medication administration, nursing flow sheets, and all assessment forms.
• Delegate tasks to the healthcare team members appropriately.
• Demonstrate unit-specific competencies and assist in the orientation of new staff.
• Promote accuracy and participate in the process of monthly medication records.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the aging process and participate in conducting and maintaining resident's assessments using the assessment tool for assisted living.
• Demonstrate basic knowledge regarding lifeline and PHB system, initiate problem-solving if needed.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, current New Hampshire LPN/RN license.
• Must possess a high degree of interpersonal relation skills and capability of relating to a variety of people and personalities.
• Considerable initiative, judgment, and leadership skills are also required.
• Must have the demonstrated ability to direct and manage personnel.
• Must possess strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Must be willing to learn.
• Current BCLS certification required within 30 days of hire.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift, carry, stand, bend, squat, crawl, reach, and kneel using good body mechanics for sustained periods of time.
• Must be able to walk approximately four miles daily.
• Must be able to lift/push up to 50 pounds.
