Job Summary:

The HVAC Facilities Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and operating all types of HVAC and refrigeration equipment, critical systems, and facility equipment to ensure they are in proper and effective operating condition.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine and complex work related to troubleshooting, repair, and upgrade of HVAC and refrigeration equipment
  • Identify, repair, maintain, install, and/or replace HVAC systems and equipment to ensure a proper and efficient working unit
  • Assist in performing root cause analysis on equipment failures to support investigations
  • Diagnose causes of problems and/or failures in heating/cooling/refrigeration systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and/or replacement needs
  • Inspect all systems and their components for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs, and recommending PM
  • Assist in the validation of existing and new equipment
  • Requisition parts and appropriate material, as needed
  • Adhere to all plant safety policies and procedures
  • Work extra hours or weekends as required by management to meet demands of schedule and emergency needs
Requirements:
  • 2-year technical school diploma in the HVAC or mechanical/electrical field AND minimum 4 years experience handling and servicing HVAC equipment
  • Extensive hands-on knowledge of all types of HVAC and refrigeration equipment
  • Universal chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) recovery certification
  • Low pressure Black Seal boiler license (PREFERRED)
  • Current working knowledge of electrical and plumbing trades, including the ability to interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and specifications
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents such as safety and environmental policies, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability and willingness to work additional hours as required by business needs
  • Pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience (A PLUS)
Physical Requirements:
  • Manufacturing-based position
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
