Position Summary

The Filler Operator I reports directly to the Production Supervisor and operates from our facility. This individual will oversee a designated production line filler and its associated equipment, ensuring product quality and safety standards are met, including monitoring Critical Quality Points (CQP) and Critical Control Points (CCP). Responsibilities include performing product and packaging changeovers, minimizing material and product loss, and conducting quality checks.

Shift: 2pm-10pm

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Transferring juice from the run tank to the filler while maintaining accurate temperature control records and ensuring compliance with Critical Control Points.
  • Efficiently operating the filler equipment to maximize production line uptime.
  • Monitoring bottle flow from the depalletizing area, resolving bottle jams, and notifying maintenance of any mechanical issues.
  • Retrieving bottle caps from storage and maintaining the cap hopper.
  • Adjusting the speed of the bottle filler to ensure a smooth workflow across the production line.
  • Making minor equipment adjustments to ensure seamless production line operation.
  • Completing packaging changeovers by adjusting rails, swapping out parts, and timing adjustments.
  • Sampling products at the start of production runs to verify compliance with quality standards.
  • Accessing product quality specifications from the Processing Guide provided by the Quality Assurance Department.
  • Conducting necessary quality tests to confirm batch compliance with product specifications using laboratory equipment.
  • Assisting the supervisor with inventory checks for bottles, caps, and products, while documenting waste and usage on inventory logs.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Performing necessary washes at the pasteurizer, filler, and support tanks, ensuring adherence to processing guides and schedules.
  • Documenting wash processes and tracking formula yield.
  • Monitoring temperature charts, product flow rates, and fill-tank levels, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Recording all product changes during changeovers on relevant temperature charts.
  • Ensuring accountability for food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proactively reporting any food safety concerns to management.
  • Complying with all SQF requirements relevant to the position.
  • Engaging with supervision to address food safety and quality issues within the scope of work.
  • Taste testing products as required.
  • Performing additional related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least six months of experience in a manufacturing environment operating production equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the food and beverage industry.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or production setting.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

This position necessitates sufficient physical capability to function effectively in a production environment.

Frequent: Ability to communicate effectively; stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend, and/or crouch; push/pull; lift up to 50 pounds; operate machinery and equipment.

Occasional: Squatting, kneeling, reaching above shoulder height, and wearing a dust mask. Exposure to hazardous chemicals may occur.

Vision: Must possess the ability to use close and distance vision, as well as color and peripheral vision. Must be able to identify obstacles in a fast-paced production environment.

Hearing: Ability to hear within the normal audio range. Exposure to noise from machinery and equipment is expected.
