The educator operates in alignment with the ANA Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice and the Code of Ethics, ensuring that all activities resonate with the organization's mission, vision, and strategic goals.

Supervision is collaboratively provided by the AVP/VP at the division level and the Director of Clinical Practice and Education within the specialty area.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Quality and Safety:


Analyzes clinical, technical, and patient-related data to enhance clinical quality and patient outcomes for the department's patient population.

Works in partnership with interdisciplinary teams to plan, implement, and assess evidence-based patient care strategies.

Facilitates patient throughput by developing personalized care plans.

Employs evidence-based practices to address clinical quality challenges in specific patient populations through inquiry and innovation.


Effectively communicates practice modifications and disseminates relevant information from councils and committees to ensure the adoption of new policies, procedures, and technologies.


Takes on a leadership role in councils and committees as a subject matter expert and consultant to uphold clinical quality and safety throughout the continuum of care.

Advocates for the principles of shared governance across the organization.

Professional Development:

Coordinates orientation and oversees the education and competency development of new staff members.

Acts as the knowledge authority for staff educational needs at both unit and organizational levels.

Encourages a culture of learning through the application of Relationship-Based Care (RBC) principles.

Provides mentorship and fosters professional growth throughout the organization.

Champions the advancement of the nursing profession through research, knowledge dissemination, practice, and a commitment to lifelong learning.

Identifies knowledge and practice gaps to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Initiates action plans to promote clinical excellence.

Manages annual and ongoing competency assessments.

Continuously evaluates the return on investment for educational initiatives.

Facilitates partnerships with academic institutions to support the development of the future workforce.

Required Qualifications:
A minimum of 2 to 5 years of recent clinical experience in the specialty area is essential, preferably at an advanced level.

Educational Requirements:
A Master's Degree in Nursing or nearing completion of an advanced degree.

Licensure and Certification:
Must hold a valid registered nurse license in the state of NJ.

Specialty Certifications:
BLS is the minimum requirement; ACLS is necessary for critical care, labor and delivery, and emergency department roles. NRP is required for neonatal areas.

PALS is necessary for roles involving pediatric care and emergency departments.
