Tissue Sample Preparation and Processing

As a Histology Assistant at Graves Gilbert Clinic, you will play a vital role in the laboratory's information management system. Your responsibilities will include receiving, logging, and accessioning tissue specimens, as well as assisting in grossing tissues, embedding specimens in paraffin, cutting sections using microtomes, and staining slides with the appropriate dyes.

Quality Control and Assurance

You will ensure that samples meet quality standards for microscopic examination, reporting any discrepancies or issues to senior staff. Additionally, you will label prepared slides accurately, track and store slides, blocks, and other specimens properly.

Laboratory Support and Maintenance

You will operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring they are clean, well-calibrated, and in good working order. You will also assist in ordering, stocking, and organizing lab supplies, ensuring materials are readily available for procedures.

Documentation and Compliance

You will maintain accurate records of samples, procedures, and test results, ensuring compliance with laboratory protocols and standards. You will also follow all safety protocols, including handling chemicals, biohazards, and sharp instruments in accordance with established safety guidelines.

Collaboration and Teamwork

You will work closely with histotechnologists, pathologists, and other lab staff to ensure timely processing and delivery of diagnostic materials.
