Histology Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Histology Assistant to join our team at Graves Gilbert Clinic.

• Tissue Sample Preparation: Receive, log, and accession tissue specimens in our laboratory's information management system.
• Specimen Processing: Assist in grossing tissues, embedding specimens in paraffin, cutting sections using microtomes, and staining slides with the appropriate dyes.
• Quality Control: Ensure that samples meet quality standards for microscopic examination, reporting any discrepancies or issues to senior staff.
• Slide Labeling and Filing: Label prepared slides accurately, track and store slides, blocks, and other specimens properly.
• Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring they are clean, well-calibrated, and in good working order.
• Laboratory Support: Assist in ordering, stocking, and organizing lab supplies, ensuring materials are readily available for procedures.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of samples, procedures, and test results. Ensure compliance with laboratory protocols and standards.
• Health and Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, including handling chemicals, biohazards, and sharp instruments in accordance with established safety guidelines.
• Collaboration: Work closely with histotechnologists, pathologists, and other lab staff to ensure timely processing and delivery of diagnostic materials.
