Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Histology Technician to join our team at St. Mary's Hospital in Green Bay, WI. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing laboratory procedures according to established protocols, working under the technical supervision of a technologist, manager, or laboratory director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Pathologist in the preparation of frozen section slides, fine needle aspirations, needle biopsies, and the gross examination of tissue specimens.
  • Prepare microscopic slides of tissues and cytology specimens for review and diagnosis by the Pathologist.
  • Perform all routine, histo-chemical, and immuno-cytochemical staining of tissue slides in accordance with standard procedures.
  • Follow established procedures for collecting and processing biological specimens for analysis.
  • Recognize unexpected results and instrument malfunction and take appropriate action.
  • Provide laboratory information to authorized sources.
  • Demonstrate laboratory technical skills to other laboratory colleagues.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science Degree required.
  • Bachelor's degree with 30 hours biology and chemistry and completion of National Accreditation Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) accredited histology technician program OR bachelor's degree with 30 hours biology and chemistry and 1 year full-time experience in histopathology.
  • American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Histology certificate or equivalent from a recognized accrediting agency. Certification must be received within 180 days of hire.
