Theatre Instructor

Guilford Technical Community College is seeking a qualified instructor to teach drama courses as part of our theatre program. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, and managing effective instructional activities.

• Prepare and teach departmental courses, including developing learner-centered lesson plans and incorporating technology as pedagogically appropriate.
• Maintain a professional status that supports the instructional mission, including participating in professional development activities and maintaining current credentials or licensures.
• Provide daily and ongoing oversight of facilities, equipment, and student records, including maintaining classroom and laboratory spaces and providing for the security of facilities and instructional materials.
• Support student success by addressing student concerns, promoting retention and persistence, and referring students to campus and community resources when appropriate.

• Master's degree or Master of Fine Arts degree in Drama/Theater Arts from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Three years of teaching experience in drama, theater arts, or a related field of study or industry training experience.
• Ability to multi-task, respect diversity, adapt to changing procedures, and create and maintain a learner-centered environment.

• Doctoral degree in Drama or Theater Arts from a regionally accredited college or university.
• More than three years of teaching experience in drama, theater arts, or a related field of study or industry training experience.
• Experience in stagecraft, lighting design and operation, or sound design and operation.
• Experience directing or coordinating theater productions.
