Clinical Nurse Specialist

Overview:
The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering direct patient care in alignment with the established guidelines, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare institution.
Key Responsibilities:
Primary Duties:
- Develops and oversees patient care strategies. Observes, documents, and communicates patient status as necessary.
- Acts as the main liaison among various healthcare professionals to ensure cohesive patient care.
- Executes and follows through on physician and nursing directives.
- Evaluates and organizes the discharge planning requirements of patients in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- May accompany physicians during rounds in a hospital environment.
- Integrates current evidence-based practices and scientific knowledge into nursing care, ensuring that services are tailored to the specific age and clinical needs of patients as outlined in the department's Scope of Service.
- As a representative of SSM Health, I will uphold the professional nursing standards established in the practice model. I will utilize the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to inform my responses to the evolving health and nursing requirements of our patients and communities.
- Maintains a state of constant vigilance and operates in a safe manner.
- Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.
Educational Background:
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program or equivalent educational background for licensure.
Experience:
- No prior experience is necessary.
Physical Demands:
- Regularly uses verbal communication to convey information.
- Consistently stands and walks.
- Frequently lifts, carries, and pushes/pulls items weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Engages in sitting, reaching, and data entry on a regular basis.
- Regularly utilizes vision for close and distant tasks, including color differentiation.
- Frequently employs olfactory senses to identify and recognize odors.
- Regularly uses auditory senses to receive verbal communication and detect sounds related to patient care and equipment.
- Occasionally lifts and moves objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
- Occasionally assists in lifting/moving patients.
- Occasionally bends, stoops, kneels, squats, twists, grips, and performs repetitive movements with legs and arms.
- Occasionally drives as part of job duties.
- Rarely engages in crawling or running activities.
