Clinical Nurse Specialist

As a Registered Nurse, RN Clinic, you will provide compassionate, culturally sensitive, and holistic nursing care to patients in a clinical setting. You will support the Mercyhealth nursing mission, practice values, and strategic plan. This role may include variable shifts, weekends, holiday, and/or on-call hours. You will perform other duties as assigned, including floating to various units based on identified needs and clinical competency.
Responsibilities- Utilize the nursing process and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies, and procedures, standards of care, and State laws/practice act.
- Document according to standards of care.
- Develop, initiate, and execute a patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or clinic policy, including patient and family instruction.
- Participate in department or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance.
- Utilize clinical expertise and guidance to other units/departments in support of the patient's longitudinal plan of care.
- Utilize critical thinking in regards to patient safety and patient experience and appropriately escalate to the appropriate chain of command.
- Participate in the professional nursing continuum process, unit practice activities, and decisions and peer review process.
- Offer ideas and/or solutions to practice issues.
- Use innovative methods and intuitive skills to develop and implement plans of care.
- Provide innovative ways to educate patient/families.
- Initiate interdisciplinary collaboration to meet the patient/family educational needs.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Licensed as an RN in the state of practice.
- Approved CPR certification required within 90 days.
- 10 hours of continued education.
- Follows policies and procedures; adapts to and manages changes in the environment; Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness giving attention to details; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve performance; Manages time and prioritizes effectively to achieve organizational goals.
- Responds promptly to requests for service and assistance; Follows the Mercyhealth Critical Moments of service; Meets commitments; Abides by MH confidentiality and security agreement; Shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences; and effectively communicates information to partners; Thinks system wide regarding processes and functions.
