Key Responsibilities:

  • Manufacture high-quality, precision components and tooling using various materials such as stainless steel, nickel, and copper.
  • Transform raw materials into finished products through meticulous machining processes.
  • Set up and operate both manual and CNC lathes and mills, including conversational equipment.
  • Design and create custom tools and fixtures to support machining operations.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and schematics to ascertain product dimensions and tolerances, determining the optimal methods for fabrication.
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to provide insights on machining and fabrication processes.
  • Maintain equipment, manage inventory, and ensure a well-organized workspace.
  • Provide training on machine shop equipment and safety protocols to colleagues.
  • Assist in various tasks, including test setups and equipment assembly.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues with machines and equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience operating manual and ProtoTRAK machines.
  • Familiarity with CAM software and part programming.
  • Ability to read and interpret both imperial and metric dimensions, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Proficient in using measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Knowledge of selecting and preparing appropriate tools and materials for machining tasks.
  • Experience in designing fixtures and attachments for machining processes.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative and diverse team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and communication tools.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 6-10 years of experience in a prototype machining role within a commercial setting.
  • Experience with precision measurement tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical training in machining.
  • Experience in a startup atmosphere.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining CNC machinery.
  • Knowledge of multi-axis CNC operations.
  • Familiarity with modern CAM software.
  • Experience working with refractory metals.
