Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse in our Inpatient Addiction Medicine unit, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our team. Under general supervision, you will use your clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat human responses to actual or potential health problems.

You will be responsible for assessing, planning, directing, providing, and evaluating nursing care for patients, as well as coordinating care activities with other healthcare disciplines. Your expertise will be essential in developing individualized nursing plans of care, prioritizing patient needs, and ensuring accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.

Key ResponsibilitiesAssessment
  • Perform accurate multi-system assessments, including biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, education needs, and discharge planning needs.
  • Identify deviations from normal on routine lab diagnostic tests and reassess patients throughout their hospitalization.
Planning
  • Develop individualized nursing plans of care that are sensitive to the developmental needs of patients.
  • Coordinate patient care activities and discharge planning with other hospital and clinic departments and community agencies.
  • Develop patient teaching plans and document them on the care plan or teaching plan.
Implementation
  • Initiate appropriate measures based on protocol for the management of medical and/or surgical patients.
  • Correctly carry out physicians' plans of care and accurately document in the electronic medical record.
  • Utilize a multidisciplinary approach when appropriate and perform all necessary procedures correctly.
Evaluation
  • Evaluate assessment methods, plans of care, and patients' responses to treatment.
  • Participate in unit quality assurance activities.
Requirements
  • Minimum nine (9) months of RN experience.
  • One (1) year of Mental Health and/or Addiction Medicine treatment experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided).
  • Basic Life Support.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous healthcare experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field.
  • Two (2) years recent work experience with Mental Health and/or Inpatient Addictions Medicine Treatment.
  • Experience in acute care or skilled nursing.
  • Documented knowledge of Mental Health and Addiction diagnosis and care of patients, including use of CIWA/COWS.
