Compensation: Based on experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret work orders and related documentation to prepare products for coating.
  • Prepare items for coating, including cleaning and masking surfaces.
  • Mix and prepare coatings for application in both spray booths and hand-held equipment.
  • Utilize cleaning agents to maintain machinery and workspaces.
  • Apply coatings to various components, parts, and equipment structures.
  • Operate coating booths effectively.
  • Handle hand-held spray equipment with proficiency.
  • Monitor coating quality and make judgments on acceptability.
  • Identify and resolve issues related to product appearance.
  • Manage temperature controls, maintain and clean coating equipment, and adjust coating viscosity as needed.
  • Additional responsibilities include maintaining the coating line, disposing of hazardous materials properly, and monitoring chemical levels in designated areas.

Required Competencies: Level 1 – Coating Operator

  • Ability to comprehend and adhere to standard operating procedures.
  • Moderate mechanical, technical, and analytical skills are necessary.
  • Basic arithmetic skills and written communication abilities may be required.
  • Some troubleshooting skills related to product appearance are essential.
  • Proficiency in operating spray equipment and other hand/power tools.
  • Capability to follow written guidelines for coating preparation.
  • Effective communication with team members regarding work instructions and progress.
  • Understanding and compliance with safety protocols when working with chemicals and coating processes, including the use of personal protective equipment.

Educational and Cognitive Requirements:

A high school diploma or GED is preferred, demonstrating the following skills:

  • Basic mathematical skills for recording and calculating production metrics.
  • Fundamental reading skills for understanding instructions, shipping documents, and safety warnings.
