About the Role

Dignity Health is seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Technician II to join our team at Northridge Hospital Medical Center. As a key member of our Central Sterilization department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care by processing and sterilizing medical instruments and equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Clean and decontaminate surgical instruments and medical equipment according to established policies and procedures.
  • Inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize medical devices following manufacturer's recommendations and established procedures.
  • Operate cleaning and sterilization equipment in the department according to manufacturer's recommendations and established procedures.
  • Perform biological tests and maintain recording devices on all autoclaves.
  • Inspect instruments to ensure good working condition and send them out for repair or sharpening as needed.
  • Maintain neat and orderly work areas and sterile fields in operating rooms.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of the principles of sterilization, asepsis, infection control, and universal safety precautions.
  • Prepare self and work area for potential emergencies such as fire and earthquakes.
  • Demonstrate organizational skills, cost-consciousness, and quality assurance procedures in performance of job tasks.
  • Effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisory staff as necessary to ensure effective functioning of operating room activities.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment and fill surgical case cart requisitions using hospital computer system.
  • Comply with established Hospital and departmental policies, protocols, procedures, and objectives.
Requirements
  • Minimum of two years experience with surgical instrumentation required.
  • Minimum two years prior sterile processing or surgical tech experience required.
  • Completion of a Sterile Processing Program or surgical tech program required.
  • High School Graduate or equivalent required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferred.
  • CRCST (HPSA) required within 6-months of hire/transfer for Certified Surgical Technologist.
  • Current AHA BLS card required.
  • Fire Card (within 90 days of hire) required.
