OVERVIEW:

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The selected candidates will undergo a comprehensive 4-8 week onboarding and training program, which includes hands-on experience in operations and Sales & Service. This program culminates in a certification that allows candidates to showcase their capabilities within the Retail Personal Banker role. The Personal Banker I position is centered around utilizing a consultative sales approach to effectively identify and fulfill the financial needs of our clients.

This role emphasizes the importance of acquiring new customers and enhancing existing relationships through various initiatives, including proactive engagement in the financial center and tele-consulting. Responsibilities also include processing transactions and collaborating with platform staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Employ a consultative sales methodology and Financial Needs Assessment to create a comprehensive customer profile and identify both current and future financial requirements.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of retail consumer and small business products/services, recommending suitable solutions aligned with our value proposition.
  • Utilize approved marketing tools to proactively connect with customers and schedule regular financial reviews.
  • Focus on cross-selling to our existing customer base while participating in community outreach activities as directed.
  • Build strong partnerships with assigned business units (Mortgage, Small Business, Commercial, and Investment) to provide holistic financial solutions.
  • Consistently achieve customer satisfaction and production goals, contributing to year-over-year revenue growth.
  • Guide Customer Service Representatives in the sales and referral processes.
  • Foster a positive customer experience through professionalism and a friendly demeanor.
  • Address customer inquiries confidently and manage customer issues effectively.
  • Uphold confidentiality and trust in all business dealings.
  • Adhere to the Bancorp Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, maintaining ethical standards at all times.
  • Follow established procedures while managing the full range of retail products.
  • Engage in the consumer loan and bankcard processes, overseeing sourced loans from application to closing.
  • Assist in the opening and closing operations of the financial center as directed.
  • Stay informed on retail procedures to mitigate risks and fraudulent activities.

SUPERVISORY ROLE:

No supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A college degree or relevant work experience that provides transferable skills.
  • Preferred experience in the financial services industry.
  • Ability to engage in sales activities aimed at acquiring new customers and cross-selling to existing clients.
  • Proficiency in advanced mathematical functions for analyzing credit and financial data.
  • Professional representation of Fifth Third Bank through appearance and communication.
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of retail policies and procedures for sound decision-making.
  • Registration under the S.A.F.E. Act is required at the time of employment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Standard office setting.
  • Extended periods of viewing computer screens.
  • Flexibility in scheduling and travel within the affiliate for training purposes.
  • Travel outside the affiliate may be necessary for various training sessions.
