Medical Laboratory Specialist

Inova Health System is seeking a skilled Laboratory Technical Specialist to join our team in Burke, Virginia.
Job SummaryThe Laboratory Technical Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the quality of specimens for laboratory testing. This position requires a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and a commitment to delivering accurate and timely results.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure quality specimens for laboratory testing by recognizing pre-analytical factors that adversely affect patient results.
- Operate systems/methodologies to produce timely and accurate data for patients, quality control, and proficiency testing.
- Report clinical data accurately and efficiently.
- Participate in departmental development by demonstrating operational knowledge and adhering to regulatory standards.
- Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with team members to optimize job performance and foster working relationships.
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university, including biological science, chemistry, and mathematics courses.
- 3 years of experience in an accredited laboratory under the supervision of a pathologist certified by the American Board of Pathology.
- Preferred experience: Previous experience performing, implementing, and troubleshooting culture and molecular (qualitative and quantitative) based infectious disease testing.
- ASCP Certification consistent with the scope of responsibility (MLS/MT, MLT, HT, HTL, BB, C, H, M, CT) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) or Laboratory Technologist Certification (HEW).
