Job Title: Analytical Scientist

Orum Therapeutics is seeking a highly skilled Analytical Scientist to join our team. As a key member of our analytical group, you will be responsible for conducting bench-based research focused on sample preparation, LC-MS and HPLC analytical characterization/quantitation for ADC, Antibody, small molecule drug, data analysis and report within a dynamic, enthusiastic, highly interdisciplinary and collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine lab experiments to support various projects analytical needs and bioconjugation workflow, including instrument operation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct QC and characterization of ADC, antibodies, and small molecules using appropriate analytical methods including intact mass analysis, de-glycosylation and reduction LC-MS, DAR measurement, HPLC methodology (SEC, HIC, IEX, RP etc), peptide mapping, PTM profiling, native MS, structural characterization for small molecule drugs.
  • Prepare and analyze samples from various sources, such as purified protein products, biological matrix (plasma, serum and tissues, etc).
  • Identify metabolites of ADC from in- vivo or in-vitro samples using appropriate sample handling and analytical methods such as affinity capture, forced release, MS/MS, SIM-MS, etc.
  • Perform small molecule metabolism experiments for stability and identification from microsome, S9 fraction and hepatocytes.
  • Optimize analytical methods and provide technical guidance to troubleshoot, investigate, and resolve technical issues related to method implementations.
  • Proactively recommend and evaluate instrumentation that expands internal analytical capabilities.
  • Present written and oral reports to multidisciplinary team.
  • Enter all data into electronic laboratory notebooks and database daily, generate weekly summary reports for management review.
  • Contribute to the build-out and upkeep of an expanding laboratory through maintaining shared equipment, assisting with general laboratory housekeeping, and developing processes for improving workflow efficiency.
Requirements:
  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Analytical chemistry or a related field with minimum 5 years' experience, MS degree with 8 years', or BS degree with 11 years'.
  • Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Track record of accomplishment in the field, as indicated by publications in peer reviewed journals.
  • General knowledge of analytical instrumentation including operational, maintenance, and design aspects.
  • Hands-on experience, including antibody drug conjugate sample handling, preparation (de-glycosylation, reduction, and in-solution/in-gel digestion), and characterization (HPLC (SEC, HIC, IEX, RP etc), LC-MS, Uv-Vis), basic instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • An active scientific curiosity and interest for complementary disciplines within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Passionate about improving technological solutions using new and emerging technologies.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, attention to detail and result oriented behaviors in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, creativity, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Enthusiasm for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of chemists, protein engineers, and biologists.
  • Strong communication and time-management skills, the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and the ability to effectively collaborate with a global multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
