POSITION SUMMARY:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job description outlines the primary duties and expectations associated with the position. The incumbent may be required to perform additional job-related tasks as necessary.
- Supervises designated staff during assigned shifts.
- Provides direct care, emotional support, and daily oversight for children aged 0-18 years.
- Conducts initial assessments and develops treatment plans; maintains documentation and collaborates with Behavioral Health professionals.
- Identifies and addresses the needs and strengths of children; engages in case management to facilitate necessary services and interventions.
- Responds to children's needs, including hunger and medical care; transports youth to appointments and helps them acclimate to the facility.
- Educates youth on social skills, self-care, academic success, independent living, problem-solving, personal hygiene, financial management, and job readiness.
- Provides crisis intervention while maintaining emotional composure.
- Maintains communication with internal and external staff regarding youth behaviors and progress.
- Offers emotional and moral support; serves as a role model by demonstrating skills taught in the program.
- Attends court hearings and meetings with educators and counselors on behalf of youth; supervises family visits.
- Supports academic achievement by monitoring performance, assisting with homework, and providing transportation to extracurricular activities.
- Prepares and maintains documentation regarding youth-related events.
- Conducts routine maintenance of the residence; reports repair needs and performs housekeeping tasks as required.
- Contributes to the effectiveness of the unit's services by providing suggestions and actively participating in team efforts.
- Represents the organization with professionalism and integrity in all interactions.
- Prepares financial reports for purchases and submits them as required; assists in managing funds allocated for youth clothing.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To succeed in this role, an individual must be capable of fulfilling each essential duty effectively. The qualifications listed below are indicative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
Education and Experience:
An Associate's Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field; AND two years of experience in child care; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Must be at least twenty-one years of age.
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of:
- Fundamental principles of social work and early childhood development.
- Basic counseling, assessment, case planning, and therapeutic crisis intervention techniques.
- Identifying and responding to children's needs.
- Regulations and guidelines pertinent to the role.
- Record-keeping and report-writing standards.
- Safety protocols related to the work environment.
- Effective strategies for engaging with children aged 0-18 years.
- Standard office practices and procedures.
- Behavior management techniques for children.
- Correct usage of business English, including spelling and grammar.
- Strategies for interacting with diverse individuals, particularly in challenging situations.
Skills in:
- Observing, assessing, and documenting children's behavior accurately.
- Maintaining precise records of activities performed.
- Preparing clear and concise reports.
- Building supportive relationships with youth.
- Utilizing tact and discretion in interactions.
- Working effectively with individuals from various backgrounds.
- Providing supervision, counseling, and crisis intervention to youth within established guidelines.
- Recognizing and responding to unusual behaviors or emergencies.
- Ensuring the safety and security of children.
- Participating in multidisciplinary case discussions and assisting in treatment plan development.
- Communicating effectively in both oral and written forms.
- Contributing to team goals and objectives.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Continued employment is contingent upon maintaining all required licenses and certifications in good standing.
- Nevada driver's license.
- CPR and First Aid certification within six months of employment.
- Qualified Behavioral Aide (QBA) certification within six months of hire.
- Qualified Mental Health Aide (QMHA) certification within six months of hire.
