Location
This role is based in Hemlock, Michigan.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the maintenance and engineering support for all power distribution systems, serving as the primary liaison with plant operations and utility providers. Proficient in troubleshooting and application of power distribution systems, including:
- Industrial voltage distribution (480V, 5kV, 15kV, and 35kV)
- Switchgear, circuit breakers, and control systems
- Transformers and power metering
- System protection and evaluation
- Generators and automatic transfer switches
- Low and medium voltage distribution cabling
- Provide engineering support for building power systems, focusing on industrial electrical equipment such as:
- General circuits and electronics
- Building wiring and feeder circuits
- Lighting systems
- Variable speed drives
- Low and medium voltage motors
- Motor control centers
- Uninterruptible power supplies
- Small transformers
- Support electrical process heating applications, which includes:
- Power electronics and control systems
- Communication system interfaces
- Power control methodologies
- Implement distributed control systems and programmable logic controllers.
- Ensure the availability and reliability of physical assets.
- Drive recovery efforts from electrical disturbances.
- Monitor and report on defined reliability KPIs.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of preventative maintenance performed by operators and adjust long-term strategies as necessary.
- Lead root cause investigations for initial levels of issues.
- Participate in reliability reviews for projects and management changes.
- Assist in defining and executing maintenance and reliability improvement initiatives.
Additional Responsibilities
- Act as a member of the Emergency Management Team as needed.
- Lead commodity programs as assigned.
- Provide off-hours support for electrical outages and maintenance.
- Serve as project sponsor and engineering support for electrical initiatives.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is required.
- Preferred: Concentration in Electrical Power Engineering within industrial or utility contexts.
- Licensure: Professional Engineering License is preferred.
Experience:
- 5 years of experience in industrial facilities, utilities, or engineering organizations focusing on electrical power distribution systems is preferred.
