Job Description

Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research is seeking a highly motivated Bioinformatics Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving single cell omics and spatial database and processing pipelines, developing and implementing existing and new computational methods and tools for high-throughput analysis of diverse data, and integrating multiple types of data and analytical methods in creative ways to exploit genomic information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and improve single cell omics and spatial database and processing pipelines
  • Develop and implement existing and new computational methods and tools for high-throughput analysis of diverse data
  • Integrate multiple types of data and analytical methods in creative ways to exploit genomic information
  • Document workflows and visualization of data using appropriate tools
  • Present results to internal and external collaborators
Requirements
  • BSc or MSc or equivalent in Computational Biology, Genome Science, Bioinformatics, or related field
  • 0 - 3 years of experience in interdisciplinary collaborations at the interface of data science and life sciences
  • Capable of prioritizing day-to-day tasks with team's broader aims and goals
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both computational and experimental collaborators
  • Proven experience in programming (proficiency of at least two programming language (i.e. python, shell, R))
  • Proficiency with UNIX-based operating systems
  • Must be able to work well independently and demonstrate proficient problem-solving competency
